EVALUATION
My trailer shares a lot of aspects and has many similarities with a real trailer. these range from captions, music, edit to voice overs. many film trailers start with a calm and peaceful beginning then the music changes and the actions starts. this is something that we tried following in our trailer. we see in the trailer of the movie Green Street Hooligans how the action starts when the music changes and there isn't a lot of talking but a lot of fighting, and this is what we were trying to achieve. at the beginning of the trailer we had the logos of the companies which produced the film and this is something which every trailer had at the beginning. it is there so people are aware of who are the companies in charge of the movie and also gives advertisements to those companies. music played a big role in the trailer, as it usually does within our chosen genre of British drama/action. We chose to play songs from artist who were well known by teenagers, part of target audience, as this allowed us to engage the audience and keep them interested. this was done in the trailers of kidulthood and Bullet Boy. the artists used in those trailers were Bashy, Shaystie and others. We used artists such as Dizzee Rascal and Skrein who make similar music under the genre of Grime. We knew that our target audience may be enjoy the music as some can relate to many of the things which the artists say. we chose the music specifically because we wanted songs which had a message and a meaning behind them, also as music in trailers helps set the atmosphere and helps endorse the meaning and theme of the trailer. Our different camera angels were one of the conventions which we felt were very good and helped in making our trailer look professional.
STRENGTHS
Hand held camera angle was used when Humaira followed my feet as i ran up the stairs. this gave a good effect and helped make the trailer look more urban and because the location which it was shot at was in a flat it gave a sense 'danger' as we know such flats are associated with drugs and crime etc.
The use of voice overs at the beginning and the end of the trailer was another strength which helped in making the trailer more inviting to the audience. 'This is my city' is the voice over at the beginning of the trailer and this sets the scene with a wide shot of the city.
the whole team had put in a lot of effort and taken time out to help out with the trailer and contribute with all that they have. As i was in charge of the trailer i feel that all the members had listened well and each individual completed what was asked of them to the best they could do. this helped us continue with the trailer knowing that everyone was putting in 110%. i think that the work effort is reflected in the end product.
IMPROVEMENTS
Time keeping will be something i would pay more attention to if i was to do this again. we either had a lot of time which we didn't know what to do in or didn't have enough time to finish the allocated task. although most of the trailer was completed we did have a little more footage that we couldn't add as most of our time was taken on perfecting what we had.
Another aspect i would change was the fact that there wasn't enough close up shots used in the trailer. this type of shot is very important as it allows expressions to be closely observed closely by the audience and also its a shot which gives the trailer a more personal theme. we wanted our audience to relate to the trailer and with the use of more close ups i think that we could of achieved this more than what we had done.
There were no females used in the trailer
AUDIENCE
I think that the trailer allowed our chosen audience to relate to it and think that it portrays someones life realistically without it being glorified or over exaggerated. The demographics of my audience are male between the ages of 15-25. they will be mainly students at college and at universities and some will be working. as i have been to see films which have a similar genre and are also U.K based i realized that the people who watch these movies don't come from many different backgrounds but rather are black and Asian. these are the mass audiences although this movie will appeal to people from different backgrounds. The audience may also have previous knowledge on the genre.
APPEALING TO AUDIENCE
well firstly music plays a big role in such movies. in the movies which i have mentioned above they all use soundtracks from a genre known as grime. it is this which alot of teenagers can realte to when hearing it. the music chosen has a message behind it and allows its listners to think about the lyrics as it can portray their lifestyle. Another influencial factor is the use of dialouge. the accent and aslo slang which is used on the streets has to be portrayed in the movie. this makes the audience feel as if they can watch this movie becouse they feel a part of it.

MY ROLE
As ideas for different trailers were thrown around i suggested doing something which was appealing to the British audience. So we scrapped any ideas of horror or Sci-Fi and went ahead with my idea of having a drama/action movie. I suggested this because in the last couple of years a hype was around for such movies. This was from Adulthood, West 10 LDN, to recently One Day and the older but amazing Bullet Boy. it was also a genre which was based on realism and we didn't have to have any extra props or equipment except of what we already have, so it was better to do in that sense to.
So since i came up with the idea for the trailer i was given the job of directing and also acting. In directing i had to help with the plan and also make sure that everything was to go to schedule. I also had to decide on when and where we will meet to do either shooting or have a group meeting. Making sure that every member in the group had completed their tasks and seeing who needed help was another of my duties. I helped Yassin with the editing as this was an important stage in the making of the trailer. I also helped Amina in choosing a the music because this would be a crucial element in the trailer. We had to use the right music in order for us to achieve what we set out.
My other duty was acting. I played Darrell who is the main charchter, a teenager lost in the wilderness of the city. I was given this role because i fit the characteristics of the character we wanted to create. I had to find buildings and locations were we can do the shooting and make sure everyone attended on time. My main duty was to ensure that every member had contributed in the making and understood what is asked of them and for everyone to take turns in using the camera.

Music
The following are a number of music tracks which i intend in using in my trailer.I still have not decide on which ones to use. All of the tracks are done by british artists from the grime genre as its the appealing genre in such movies.1) Tinchy Stryder- follow
The artist in this track talks about how he had to follow people when he was younger and the struggles which he had to go through, and now he is someone who people look up to but most importantly follow.
2) Skrein- Reach
This track has a really good instrumental which gives a sense of seriousness and its a typical beat which if teenagers hear would recognise to be from grime.
3) Dizzee rascal- Paranoid
This track was used in Adulthood and the artist tells of how is not thinking straight and how his mind plays tricks on him. it can be a personal track and might be of personal identity to my audience.
4) The streets- Stay positive
Staying positive through thick and thin is the message sent from this artist. he explores his past and troubles which have surrounded his life scince he was a young boy.
5) Dash- Test of a man
What tests a man has to go through in order for them to prove them selves to be a real man who is respected in the 'hood'.
All of the above music is created by British artists mainly in London and Birmingham. They all follow the grime genre which is a genre on the rise and it is what most teenagers listen to as they can relate to it as well as learn from it. As you can see I chose the music tracks specifically as they all bring a message and mention struggle and talk about the harsh realities of life which are not presented in all movies. This goes well with my movie trailer as it is about a teenager who falls prey to drugs, gangs and the police! The music and the plot make a good combination as i now need to choose which of the tracks I want to use. another thing is that the tracks have been done by both black and white artists and this is very important because in such genres no culture or background stands out as it effects all ethnicities.
